TO DUST, R ( 1 h & 32 m ); APOLLO 11, documentary ( 1 h & 33 m ); WEDDING GUEST, R ( 1 h & 34 m )

-

I went to see this movie on Wednesday, March 13th, 2018, at the Century Regency 6, in San Rafael, CA, for the 2:00 p.m. showing in auditorium 6, row 4, seat 8. The price of admission was $9.50. And I bought a medium drink and a medium popcorn at the concessions counter.

-

Quickie Review: A grieving widower, Hasidic cantor Shmuel ( Geza Rohrig ), and a college science professor, Albert ( Matthew Broderick ), embark on a macabre journey ( roadtrip? ) to satisfy Shmuel's curiosity in a corpse's decaying process. This dark comedy is unlike any that I have seen before. Shmuel, whose young wife died of cancer, believes that his wife's body must decay within a certain time frame for him to find consolation and an end to his grieving. For his assurance, he accosts a science teacher for help. What follows is a series of comedic scenes that challenge the mores of an orthodox Jewish community.

What I Think Of This Movie: There are some hilarious scenes like a Hasidic Jew buying a dead pig from a Chinese butcher in a back alley somewhere, two Jewish boys doing an exorcism on their father whom they thought was possessed by a dybbuk, the wife/pig soil pH test, the body farm visit, etc. I liked this movie. And the other movie viewers liked it, too.

You might want to see this movie.

I missed the first 10 minutes of this movie because I thought that I had lost my tally counter ( which I use to keep count of my Zhunti Mantra recitations ). I looked in the lobby, in the men's room and outside in the parking lot for my tally counter. But, as it turned out, it was in the cup holder of my theatre seat all along.  Whew!  😥

The actor who plays the part of Shmuel looked like Mark Ruffalo.

I went to see this movie at the same theatre, on the same day, for the 4:30 p.m. showing in auditorium 2, center column (?), row 5, seat 6. The price of admission was $9.50.

Quickie Review:  This is a documentary of the historic 1969 Apollo Moon Mission. It has footage not seen before in other documentaries of the same subject.

What I Think Of This Movie: This is a movie that shouldn't be missed, simply for its historical value. I liked this movie. And the audience liked it, too; some even went so far as to give this movie a "Hands Clapper" ending. Go see this movie.   👍

Some of the scenes look so sharply done, as if they were filmed today, considering how grainy some movies were back in 1969.

I went to see this at the same theatre, on the same day, for the 7:20 p.m. showing in auditorium 1 ( I forget which row & column ). The price of admission was $12.50. And I still had enough soda in my cup, from when I bought a medium drink for the first show, to last me through this movie.

Quickie Review:  Jay ( Dev Patel ) is hired to go to India to abduct the soon-to-be bride in an arranged marriage. But things spiral out of control when Jay is forced to kill a guard in self-defense. Soon, a secret is revealed while loyalty is brought into question.

What I Think Of This Movie: This movie was okay. It could have been better as a comedy, I think. With the "Wedding" in its title, I couldn't help but think along the lines of THE WEDDING SINGER and WEDDING CRASHERS. You might want to wait for this to come out as a DVD rental.   😒

This movie is not playing at my local Bollywood movie haunt, the Century 16 Hilltop in Richmond, CA. So, I just decided to see it here after all.

*********************************************

This is the first time that I've driven my 2002 Saturn SC-1 on Highway 37 and on 101 South. With only 47,561 miles ( 76,542 kilometers ) on its odometer, it handled quite well as it traveled smoothly and almost quietly on the road.

Highway 37 was closed sometime last month because the levee broke from flooding. Since we had some heavy rains last month.

I had in mind to eat dinner at the McDonald's Restaurant on Nave Road, in Novato, CA, right after the APOLLO 11 movie. But I decided to go see a third movie, WEDDING GUEST, instead.

Honestly, I should have gone to see these movies the day before, on Tuesday. Since Tuesday is "bargain movie all day".  I could have saved on money, then.   👌

I haven't been to this theatre in about five years.  😶

I didn't bring a mini notepad to take notes on any of these movies.

P.S. I'm not blogging about CAPTAIN MARVEL for the same reason that I didn't blog about BLACK PANTHER: "liberalism" ruined it for me. They already changed Kingpin's and Nick Fury's race. But they just couldn't leave it at that! They're getting carried away, all in the name of "social justice".  😏  Leave well-enough alone, haven't they heard?  I'm not watching Marvel superhero movies in their opening weeks ( a two-week moratorium ), anymore.

AURORA / STAN & OLLIE

PG-13 (?), 2 hr & 0 min (?)
-

I went to the Century Hilltop 16 in Richmond, CA, on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019, to catch the 4:45 p.m. showing of this movie in auditorium 15, 3rd row, column 10. The price of admission was $5.75. And I bought a medium vanilla flavored Ginger Ale for $4.00 at the concessions counter.

Quickie Review: After the passenger ship, Aurora, is wrecked off the coast of Batanes Island, Philippines, and after the Philippine Coast Guard has given up hope in recovering more bodies just as a typhoon is coming to batter the desolate island, some people solicit the help of Leanna ( Anne Curtis ), a local seafront hotel keeper, to recover their dead relatives' bodies for a tidy sum. Unable to resist the offer for financial reasons, she agrees to do so. Soon, a criminal secret in the ship's cargo hold is exposed, implicating certain government officials.

What I think about this movie:  I liked this Horror movie, save for the last scene inside the hotel room which didn't make sense.

Some reviewer said that the conflict in the protagonist's sense of morality was tantamount to hypocrisy, and he/she may be right to make such an assumption.

PG, 1 hr & 37 min
I went to the Century 14 Vallejo, here in Vallejo, CA, on Friday, January 25th, 2019, to catch the 5:30 p.m. showing of this movie in auditorium 3, C 6. The price of admission was $6.00. And I bought a medium Root Beer for $4.00 at the concessions counter.

Quickie Review: This documentary-style movie is about the famous Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy comedy duo who went to Europe for a final comedy tour.

What I think about this movie:  I liked this movie as it took me on a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I never saw their movies on the Big Screen; but I had the chance to enjoy some of them on the Small Screen.

And I liked how Steve Coogan ( who plays Stan ) and John C. Reilly ( who plays Ollie ) did such an exceptional job in portraying/channeling their respective characters.

After the Ending Credits, I overheard a lady say, "That was a great movie,"

********************************

It costs a dollar more ( from $5.00 to $6.00 ) to cross the bridge back to Vallejo from Richmond! Years ago, in the late '90s, the bridge toll was raised from $1.00 to $5.00 for "earthquake retrofitting." And it was supposed to be just a temporary raise! But, effective January 1st of this year, some idiots voted to raise the toll fee by a dollar more!  😠 It's no wonder that I renamed california to CLUSTERFUCKNIA!!!

I've been out of work since December 28th, 2018, because of a back injury. And I still haven't even received my 1st disability cheque, yet!

My chiropractor said that, according to the x-rays, I have Scoliosis, Arthritis and Bone Spurs in my right Lumbar Area. He wanted me to go to my primary care physician at Kaiser Permanente Hospital for an MRI and a possible appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. My appointment with my pcp is this Friday, February 1st.

On Monday of next week, there will be a local Stem Cell seminar that I must attend. It's about how stem cells are used for treatment of joint and back injuries.

HUNTER KILLER, R ( 2 hr & 1 min )

-

I went to see movie twice, on its 7:00 p.m. ( auditorium 3, seat C6 ) advanced screening on Thursday, October 25th, 2018 and today, Saturday, October 27th, at 4:30 p.m. ( auditorium 3, seat B4 ), both at the Century 14 Vallejo, here in Vallejo, CA.

Quickie Review:  An untested US Navy Submarine Captain ( Gerard Butler ) goes to Russia to save the Russian President ( Alexander Diachenko ) from a coup d'etat orchestrated by the rouge Russian Defense Minister ( Michael Gor ) to avert a nuclear war between the two superpowers.

The audience liked this movie; some even gave it a "Hands Clapper" ending. I liked this movie, too, enough to see it twice! Go see this Suspense Thriller.

Michael Nyqvist, who played the role of the Russian Submarine Captain, died after this movie was completed last year.  RIP   😞

The female US President ( Caroline Goodall ) reminded me of hillary bodybags clinton!   😠

******************************************

After the movie, I had a run-in in the parking lot:

At 7:00 p.m., a paranoid Pinoy asshole came up to me in the Century 14 Vallejo parking lot, where I was scrolling through my Facebook page, and asked me if I was videotaping something.
Of what? I asked him. It's dark out. How was I gonna get a good image of anything? 😕
He said that I was holding up my cellphone for over a minute. I told the paranoid Pinoy idiot that I am near-sighted and showed him my Facebook page. He said it looked to him that I was videotaping him because I casually had the back of my cellphone aimed in the general direction of his car, which was about 60 feet away--twice the distance of where I parked my car. He accused me of videotaping, once again. Of what? I asked him again. I am just minding my own fucking business, I told him in a raised voice as I was getting angry with him because of his false accusation! I was getting in 🤜 "Battle Mode," 🤛 and ready to do some serious bodily harm to the paranoid Pinoy idiot.
He walked away. He was lucky that he didn't press me some more with his paranoid accusation. Because he was unwittingly pressing my "Fight" buttons. And I don't take kindly to false accusations---IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL!

Over half an hour later:

Just now, at 7:36 p.m., a black guy just walked by me and asked if I work here. No, I don't, I responded. What's going on tonight? There's not even a full moon in the night sky. But paranoid idiots are out in force, it seems! 😕

I'm gonna have to check my horoscope forecast for this evening! 🙃

Someday, If I ever get into a fight in a theatre or outside in its parking lot, it will be here at the Century 14 Vallejo! There are so many asshole idiots who come here, I swear. Especially on weekends.

TRICO TRI: HAPPY HALLOWEEN, MISS GRANNY, QISMAT

PG-13,  1 hr & 30 min @ 4:35 p.m. ( $5.75 )
 -

NR,  2 hr & 00 min @ 6:30 p.m. ( $11.50 )
 -

NR,  2 hr & 17 min @ 9:30 p.m. ( $11.50 )
-

I went to see these movies yesterday, Monday, October 1st, 2018, at the Century 16 Hilltop in Richmond, CA.

TRICO TRI: HAPPY HALLOWEEN is about a brother & sister ghost siblings who make it their vow to keep haunting their former home until a deserving family is found to occupy it.

MISS GRANNY is about an old lady who is given a second chance at youth but sacrifices it at the end.

QISMAT is about a man in a pending arranged marriage and about a woman who is also pledged to be betrothed to someone else. But cruel fate puts them in each other's way. And their unrequited love ends in a tragic way.

All three movies, to me, were sad. It went from Sad  😭, Sadder  😭😭, Saddest  😭😭😭! I don't like movies like these. I like movies with a happy--or hopeful--ending.

*****************************************

Before seeing these movies, I went to the GOIN' POSTAL in the FoodMaxx Shopping Center on the corner of Redwood & Tuolumne Streets here in Vallejo, CA. My MONGOOSE EXPO STUNT KICK-BIKE had already arrived.   😊

-

Then, I took it to Wheels In Motion Skate & Bike Shop in Benicia, CA, for professional assembly and adjustment.

I will pick it up on Wednesday, right after work, and take it to the Benicia State Park for its trial run. This kick-bike is better suited for the hike/bike trail at the park.

Whereas, my kick-scooters cannot handle being used at the trail. They eventually wear-down, sooner or later, even though they have dual suspension. I already had 2 kick-scooters wear-down on me. They were designed only to be ridden on smooth pavement/sidewalk.

Last year, an orthopedic surgeon advised me not to go jogging anymore because of my bad left knee. She suggested that I either just walk or ride a bicycle for exercise. But walking or biking are too easy for me. Kick-scooting/kick-biking is harder than walking and can even be harder than jogging if you force yourself to go up an incline--you'd be better off jogging OR walking up that incline!

Kick-scooting is faster than walking BUT slower than jogging.

Kick-biking  CAN BE faster than jogging, depending on how big the wheels are. The Mongoose Expo Stunt Kick-Bike has 12-inch/30.50 centimeter wheels. There are kick-bikes out there with bigger wheels and, consequently, are much faster.

I will find out on Wednesday just how fast this Mongoose Expo Stunt Kick-Bike is.

My personal speed record on a round-trip distance on a kick-scooter is 14 minutes & 51 seconds. Which I achieved on a Black/Green X-Spec 924 Kick-Scooter.

-

For some strange reason, this kick-scooter is faster than my slightly lighter-weight Blue Ancheer Kick-Scooter.  😕

-

The fastest same-distance time that I ever achieved on my Blue Ancheer Kick-Scooter was 15 minutes & 21 seconds.    😞

THE NUN, R ( 1 hr & 36 min )

-

I went to see this movie yesterday, Wednesday, September 12th, 2018, here in Vallejo, CA, at the Century 14 Vallejo, for the 12:30 p.m. show in auditorium 7, seat D 10. The price of admission was $5.75.  And I bought a small fountain drink at the concessions counter for $4.55.

Quickie Review: A noviciate and a priest go to Romania to investigate a paranormal occurrence.

There were just 3 or 4 people in the auditorium with me. I don't know how any of them reacted to the movie. But I didn't find it scary at all.

****************

Here are two things wrong in this movie:  The priest and the novitiate slept in their beds with their shoes on and had no blankets. The upside-down cross is really the symbol of St. Peter, it's not Satanic.

****************

The French guy said, "Holy shit!" 😲   So, I guess he had it coming.  😮

****************

The actress, Taissa Farmiga,  playing the role of the novitiate, is the sister of Vera Farmiga, who has a cameo at the end.

When Jesus ( Yeshua Ha'Mashiach ) died on the Cross, a Roman soldier pierced his side with a spear. His Blood gushed forth and spilled on the ground. Soon, there was an earthquake which split the rock beneath the Cross. Jesus' Blood dripped down the crack and unto the Mercy Seat of the Ark of The Covenant which was stored in a secret room beneath the ground. Thus, fulfilling the requirement that the blood of the Sacrificial Lamb be put on the Mercy Seat.

****************

An American (?) archaeologist discovered this secret room. And he took a sample of the blood with him for scientific analysis. Supposedly, when some scientist did an analysis on the sample of the fresh-looking blood, said scientist only discovered 24 Chromosomes in it, instead of the usual 23 Chromosomes per parent. So, the first 23 Chromosomes in the blood sample were those that came from Mary. But the 1 other Chromosome came from God, as postulated. It's on YouTube.

****************

Earlier in the day, before seeing this movie, I went to the Benicia State Park in Benicia, CA, to kick-scoot 🛴 for 00:15:46 from 11:14:00 a.m. 'til 11:29:46 a.m. on a distance of 2.50 miles/4.02 kilometers. My record is 00:15:19 which I set 2 Thursdays ago, on the same kick-scooter: A dual-suspension Black/Green X-Spec 921 Kick-Scooter with a lever handbrake.
