THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT, R ( 1 h & 47 m )

-

I saw this movie at the CENTURY 14 VALLEJO in Auditorium 14, B-6, back on April 21st, 2022, for the 6:00 p.m. show . The price of admission was $9.25 ( Senior discount--I'm starting to show my age 👴🏽 ).

SYNOPSIS: Nick Cage ( Nicolas Cage ), a washed-up Hollywood actor deep in debt who's looking to make a comeback, gets the opportunity of a lifetime when a die-hard fan of his invites him to stay at his Spanish Villa. But Nick doesn't know that his Spanish host is the prime suspect in the kidnapping case of a career politician's daughter; and is reputed to be a ruthless crime lord who'll stop at nothing to kill anyone that gets in his way.

AUDIENCE REACTION: They liked this movie.

CINE-MAN'S REACTION: I liked this movie, too! This self-deprecating parody movie is probably one of Nicolas Cage's best movies to date! It's too bad that it was only in the theatres for 2 or 3 weeks!

FYI: Nicolas Cage has a number of recent movies available to watch on the phone streaming app, TUBI. You might want to check them out.

OBSERVATION: Ever since Idiotic DOTARD & spineless pervy chy-nah joe beijing illegitimately took office, Wholly Weird has been INDOCTRINATING movie-goers with its leftist agenda! The latest ones are these movies: Doctor Strange; Everything, Everywhere, All At Once; Men; disney's Lightyear; as well as the upcoming Thor movie! Whenever I go to see a movie, I just want to be entertained and not be INDOCTRINATED! Is that so much to ask of Clueless LIBERTARD Wholly Weird?!?!?! It has gotten so bad that Bollywood and Pakiwood are starting to churn out the same kind of needless garbage! I refuse to watch such indoctrination movies in their 1st 2 weeks at the theatres because that is when Wholly Weird makes its most money at the box office; and I'm not about to contribute to the furtherance of their 🐂💩 agenda!

TIDBITS: I'm currently recuperating from surgery. I had an Open Heart Triple Bypass Surgery ( CABG, pronounced Ca-Bage ) on May 24th. That makes me a CABG Patched Kid!  L 😆 O 😆 L 😆

Anyway ... I'm grounded for the next 6 weeks. For the duration, I'm not allowed to drive, or even be a front passenger, because of the airbags. And I found out from the Home Health Nurse today that I'm not even allowed to bend down because it puts unnecessary pressure on the surgical site!

How was the surgery? I didn't feel any pain at all. Twice, I even refused to take prescription strength Tylenol because I had no pain. I was also prescribed Oxycodone, a narcotic pain killer, but I never took even one tablet because I wasn't in any pain at all! The strange thing was that I had a Shingles attack 3 months prior to my heart surgery; and I get more ( residual ) pain from that attack--but nothing from the heart surgery!  🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

My brother, on the other hand, who had the same surgery at the same hospital and by the same doctor 2½ years before I had mine, was in pain for at least 2 weeks after his surgery.

There are only two or three reasons for the difference: 1.) The doctor learned a new trick or two in the intervening time; 2.) My brother's surgery was an emergency operation whereas mine was planned for 4 months in advance; and 3.) I prayed to God every day leading up to my surgery.

👻 Strange Fact: The night before my surgery, I stayed at my sister's house as she was the back-up driver for me since my brother had COVID. But I couldn't get any sleep at all because the door bell kept ringing every so often. And the time in-between rings got closer and closer with each passing hour! My sister said that it never happened again after that eventful night. We reasoned that it must have been the ghost of our mother who kept ringing the door bell. And here I thought that ghosts could walk through solid objects.  😕

Two days after my release from the hospital on May 31st, my brother and I took a walk around the block in his neighborhood as part of my recovery. I slipped and fell on a wet, slippery and muddy section of a sidewalk and skinned my Left Knee and Left Shin in the process! I called a law firm the next day, June 1st, for a Personal Injury lawsuit representation. But I was told that I didn't have a case because I didn't sprain my knee, break a bone and/or have the surgical stitches ripped open!! 🤬 Yet, I have to take the prescription strength Tylenol 30 minutes before I do my daily morning and evening walks!!!  😖

When I do go back to work, I'll be sure to have work restrictions imposed on me. I don't want to work full-time anymore because full-timers at my place of employment get erratic work hours and shifts! There comes a time in one's life when Health becomes more important than wealth---Especially now that I'm nearing retirement age! If I'm not granted work restrictions, I may just have to go on a permanent medical disability status since I've been in and out of the hospital five ( 5 ) times ( since February 2019 ) in less than 3 ½ years!!!

WORD OF ADVICE: Don't take Type 2 Diabetes lightly. Most of my hospital trips ( except for the 1st one ) were for diabetic complications!

I hope that all of you are in much better health.  👌❗👍

MONSTER HUNTER/WONDER WOMAN 1984/GODZILLA VERSUS KONG

-

-

I went to San Rafael Century Northgate 15 to see these 2 movies at the highlighted times. And in auditorium 1, seat C-8 for the MONSTER HUNTER. And in auditorium 8, seat C-8 for the WONDER WOMAN 1984.

The price of admission for each one was $9.50. I bought a bottled water for the 1st show. And I bought a Medium Buttered Popcorn & a Medium Fountain Diet Coke ( my dinner ) for the 2nd show.

***********************************************

I'm sorry for this very late post. I have been busy with other things. From the time that I started to write this movie blog  on March 1st, 2021 until today, April 24th. I have seen many movies; and I even installed the free Movie & TV app on my cellphone, TUBI. There are a ton of movies on TUBI! You have your choice of which 3 genres you'd like to have custom-tailored to your movie-watching preference. But you can always explore other available genres and any other movies outside of your preference. And each movie just has a few commercials that are anywhere from just a half-minute to a minute & a half in total length; unlike on YouTube where there are a lot of commercials with some that could even stretch to 2 hours long!

Anyway, I will just say some things about WONDER WOMAN 1984 & GODZILLA VERSUS KONG. And I hope that you have all seen these two movies by now---Spoiler Alert!

WONDER WOMAN 1984:

The speeding car should have had its fender dented when Wonder Woman kicked it. The "Aerobicise" scene reminded me of such a show on HBO or Showtime. Wonder Woman said, "I hate gun." I think that she meant to say, "Guns." Didn't anybody notice that whenever they stated their heartfelt wish that a gust of wind would blow in their face? Why didn't the secretary just yell out her boss's son's name right away  instead of chasing him all the way up to his executive office? Oil Rights To Land---Yup, I bought a copy of that book way back when; and, yes, it didn't seem feasible to me back then as a teenager. That CASIO watch is the same watch that I am wearing right now. But I replaced the strap with a stretch one. I didn't know that my CASIO is a classic! The dumbbell looked so fake, like the cement-filled plastic dumbbells that I used to have. How did Steve know about parachutes? Since World War I planes didn't have parachutes. Steve was able to read a plane flight ticket easily when, again, there where no commercial planes back in his own time. Wouldn't the airplane museum have a record of their late-night unauthorized entry? How was Steve able to figure-out the fighter plane's controls? World War I planes where low-altitude planes; therefore, Steve should not have known the necessary adjustments needed for sustained high altitude flight. Barbara, with her newfound powers,  could have easily killed the rude and obnoxious drunk. If Wonder Woman moved at high-speed, her hair should have looked straight instead of wavy. Okay, earlier in the movie, Wonder Woman had a hard time breaking a padlock but, later on, she could push a light-armored personnel carrier sideways on the road at a fast speed; and she even flipped a truck and made it somersault in the air! And she even crushed a gun later on But She Could Not Break A Padlock! A nosebleed gets bloodier than what Mr. Lord had. I know because I get dozens of nosebleeds each year! Barbara broke the handcuff which should have broken the wrists of Steve and Mr. Lord.  After renouncing her wish, Wonder Woman went "joy-flying" and didn't get back to her apartment until evening even though an international crisis was happening! The True Apex Land Predator is the Bear. Why didn't Barbara choose to have the powers of a bear, instead? If I am not mistaken, the United  States' thermonuclear launch code is just a series of eights! Barbara and Alistair both made more than one wish each! So, they each renounced Only One Wish, either the first or the last wish that they individually made because neither one said, "I renounce my wishes!" Lynda Carter has a cameo in the ending credits as Asteria with false teeth.

GODZILLA VERSUS KONG:

Why didn't King Kong just aim for the base of the dome so he could escape? I thought that Earth has a molten core. If King Kong ate all of that fish, he would eventually have to poop all of that fish on the deck of the ship; and I'd feel sorry for whoever had to shovel all of that stinky poop off the ship! When King Kong grabbed the fighter plane to throw at Godzilla, the cockpit's frame should have been damaged enough so that the pilot wouldn't have been able to eject! King Kong's fist was about the size of Godzilla's head and should have delivered a massive and deadly punch. Godzilla had a head start. So, why did he have to play catch-up with King Kong's Antarctica-bound fleet? Why was the Hong Kong-bound transport pod left with its doors still open for Bernie and the kids to sneak in at the last minute when it should have already been prepped, checked and readied for transport earlier? In a later scene in Hollow Earth, King Kong realized that a plane of floating rocks is where the polar gravities are sharply delineated. Which means that This Is Where The Gravitational Inversion Truly Is!!! How was Dr. Lind able to learn to pilot the HEAV-1 without prior knowledge and guidance? If Godzilla's Nuclear Breath could easily bore a hole straight to the center of the Earth, why couldn't it easily pierce the skyscraper dome that King Kong was using as a shield? In the battle against Mechagodzilla, when King Kong was pinned down, why did he just use his left hand when he could have also used his right hand?

***********************************************

I won't be writing about movies as often as I used to because I am writing down all of the supernatural and preternatural experiences that I have had in life. My brother and a co-worker told me that I have a potential best-seller nonfiction in the works. We will see. I told them that I have had so many experiences with the other-worldly that could easily fill two books. As I PM them my accounts one by one, they are realizing that I was NOT kidding when I told them that I have had a lot of other-worldly experiences!

I hope that you are all doing well in this pandemic! God bless you. Take care, always.

CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES 2/THE CROODS: A NEW AGE

-

-

I went to the CENTURY NORTHGATE 15, in San Rafael, today, again. Since it is the closest open cinema to my place which shows the 2 above shown movies.

Before I bought my ticket for the 1st show, I stopped at the nearby Sbarro's Italian Restaurant counter to buy a 16.9 oz ( 500 ml ) bottle of Nestlé Pure Life Water for $2.93.

********************

I saw the 1:10 p.m. showing of the movie, THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES 2, in auditorium 13, seat E-9. The price of admission was $9.75.

I never saw part 1. I never even knew that there was a part 1 & a part 2❗🤷🏽‍♂️ I can tell you one thing, though. I hated the bad elf! Also, this movie & the one I saw on Saturday, SANTA CLAUSE, don't have Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer; this one featured Dasher & Saturday's one featured Comet ❗

**"*****************

I saw the 3:15 p.m. showing of the movie, THE CROODS: A NEW AGE, in auditorium 11, seat D-9. The price of admission was $9.75.

I liked this movie ❗👍 It actually has some really funny scenes ❗ But I couldn't help but wonder whom the Bettermans' daughter ends up partnering with---Thunk, perhaps ....🤔    'Sorry for the spoiler.   😕

********************

And just to avoid the bumper-to-bumper rush-hour home commute traffic on Highway 37 East, I decided to see the Jackie Chan movie, VANGUARD, once again. I will be seeing the 6:35 p.m. showing in auditorium 12, seat G-9. The price of admission for this evening show was $13.00.

********************

I reached the CENTURY NORTHGATE 15 without a hitch because I ignored my GPS's directions ❗

And I traveled home, ALSO, without a hitch because I completely turned my GPS Off❗

I guess that I really am more of a "visual" type of navigator than I am an "audio" type of navigator ❗

********************

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone ❗🦃 🦃 🦃

Word of Advice: If you find tomorrow's temperature 🌡️ reading at 360° for a few hours, you just might be a 🦃 baking in the oven❗

VERMEER/VANGUARD/SANTA CLAUSE

-

-

-

Because of the pandemic lockdown, I had to drive all the way here to San Rafael to see movies since the cinemas closer to my place were all closed❗😡 👎

-

The 1st movie, THE LAST VERMEER, is about a Dutch painter who was accused of being a Nazi collaborator after World War II. Not finding fame as a painter due to negative criticism from the local art critics, he went on to become the world's most successful art forger! It's based on a true story. I really liked this movie.  👍

The price of admission for this movie was $14.00. And I bought a $2.93 bottle of Nestlé Pure Life Water ( 16.9 oz/500 ml ) @ the Sbarro Italian Restaurant across the hallway because both of the cinema's concessions counters were closed due to the BS "pandemic"❗👎

I went to see the 3:45 p.m. showing of this movie in auditorium 3, seat E-9. I missed about 10 minutes of its opening scenes because I followed the GPS instructions and turned right instead of turned left at the Northgate intersection, which is what I'd usually do.  🤦🏽‍♂️

********************

I wondered when Jackie Chan was going to have another Action Movie.  🤔  Well, I didn't have to wonder for long because here it is: VANGUARD. A secret agent type of movie. It's a good Action Movie. Although some scenes were over the top. And I couldn't help but wonder why the Gatling Gun didn't mow down the bad guys.  🤷🏽‍♂️

The price of admission for this movie was also $14.00. And I went to see the 6:35 p.m. showing of this movie in auditorium 12, seat C-9. For this particular movie, I snuck in 2 snacks: GONE ROUGE HIGH PROTEIN CHIPS, Buffalo Style Chicken & MOON CHEESE, Cheddar Believe It. Both are high Protein & just 1 gram of Carbohydrates each❗👌

*******************

Well, since I traveled this far to see movies, I figured that I'd add one last one to my list: THE SANTA CLAUSE. It's a Tim Allen movie from way back in 1994. And I don't think that I saw it when it first came out. And for the admission price of just $3.00, how could I resist?!?!?!   🤑 I went to see the 9:25 p.m. showing of this movie in auditorium 15, seat E-6. And I had the whole auditorium all to myself.  😎

You know what, though? All he had to do to prove that he was actually Santa Claus is to shave his beard in front of witnesses and watch their reaction when it almost instantly grows back again. Then, again, it wouldn't amount to much of a movie. And doesn't the kid know that the only way that he could take over the "family business" is if/when something bad were to happen to his dad ...?   😒

*******************

I wanted to see this Jackie Chan movie yesterday, Friday, the 20th. But, I was suffering from severe constipation 😣 since getting out of bed because I drank very little water the night before. And I wasn't daring enough to drive 18 miles ( 29 kilometers ) to the nearest open cinema showing this particular movie in the condition that I was in ❗

I drank plenty of water yesterday and even had 2 servings of soluble fiber to help with my constipation. But I didn't want to go to the drugstore to buy some enema or laxative for fear of having an "accident" along the way.   ☹️

This morning, at exactly 7:00 a.m., I was finally relieved of my constipation ❗😰  I had some breakfast. And I went back to bed 🛌 to get some much needed 😴 sleep 💤 since my constipation gave me a false sense of urgency All ... Night ...  Long.

I probably went to the toilet almost 2 dozen times unsuccessfully.   🤷🏽‍♂️   As if that wasn't enough, I used lots of homemade Spiced Vinegar with Red Hot Chili Peppers & Habañero Peppers on the Pork Rinds that I ate on Thursday evening, if you know what I mean.   🤦🏽‍♂️

And the foul "beast" put up a good fight, clogging up my toilet so bad that I had to use a plunger and 3 buckets of water to send it down into the abyss ❗👿

BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC/AVA

-

-

I went to see the 4:20 p.m. showing of this 1 hr. & 33 min. movie in auditorium 12, seat D-6. The price of admission was $6.50 ( all-day Bargain Tuesday ). And I bought a 1 quart/liter bottle of Dasani Water for $5.00 at the concessions counter.

I liked this movie. Especially the prison yard scene. Stay for a Bonus Scene after the Ending Credits. I was the only one in this auditorium ❗👍

-

-
I went to see the 7:30 p.m. showing of this movie in auditorium 11, seat E-6. The price of admission was $6.50. There were about 6 people in the auditorium with me for this movie.

This is a movie about a female assassin who has a habit of asking her victims what they did so bad as to have a contract put on their heads. It's got some good Action Scenes but there are a lot of "talk" scenes, unfortunately.

*************************

This cineplex, the Maya Pittsburg 16 & MPX in Pittsburg, CA, is showing 6 new movies:

THE WAR WITH GRANDPA

YELLOW ROSE

WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW

SHORTCUT

and the 2 that I went to see today.

Based on their weekend movie schedules, I planned on seeing 2 additional movies today: WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW & SHORTCUT. What I didn't know is that because of the pandemic, they are just doing a "soft opening" and only schedule half the showings on weekdays ❗

I traveled 60 miles ( 96.6 kilometers ) round-trip for just 2 movies ❗ ☹️

*************************

The last cineplex that I posted on, the Edwards Fairfield 16 & I-Max, owned by Regal, closed because they weren't getting enough moviegoers since they only had 2 new movies to show, the rest being old movies. And they were only open for about a week ❗😮   Regal closed a total of 500(?) of its cinemas.  Since Regal is in partnership with UA Cinemas, I don't see how they couldn't get a hold of more new releases. After all, Maya has 6 new movies playing this week❗
