MONSTERNADO

I started to watch this at pre-dawn today, March 21st, 2024, in bed via my cellphone's ๐Ÿคณ TUBI Streaming App.

-

Scene Commentaries:

I love the movie poster. It drew my attention to it. Of course, I am curious at how it will stack up against the Sharknado franchise, what with its never-heard-of actors in lead roles. Especially as it is pulling out all of the stops in wreaking havoc on coastal communities to one-up Sharknado's body count.

Here goes ....  ๐Ÿ˜ถ

That fishing boat would not have been able to stand a chance against such a monster tornado! ๐ŸŒช️

How stupid can a news reporter get just to have a 1st Scoop?  ๐Ÿ˜•

Agonic, meaning not forming an angle but points directly to True North, is a new word for me to add to my vocabulary. ๐Ÿ“–  Either I skipped Geology class that day or I nodded-off during the boring lecture! ๐Ÿ˜€  Or I was just day-dreaming, which I tended to do in most of my classes!  ๐Ÿ˜‚

There's an Asian man in the Cafe Scene, walking to the left of the frame, at around the 5 minute mark who shows up again, wearing the same clothes and walking towards the same direction, approximately 9 minutes later in the Hotel Bar Scene. Is he a Left-leaning stalker? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

This tornado ๐ŸŒช️ is supposedly much greater than a Category F5, with its whirling ๐ŸŒ€ wind spinning at 300 mph ( 483 kph ) as it travels up to 60 mph ( 97 kph ). But this movie's Monsternado is whipping up spouts at 300 mph which is supposedly 4X faster than normal❗ In which case, it is referencing the Monsternado's ๐Ÿ‘‰SPEED OF TRAVEL๐Ÿ‘ˆ! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ  If it is traveling through the Bermuda Triangle before it makes landfall, from its center to either Florida or Puerto Rico is about 500 miles ( 805 km ), for the sake of argument.

-

If the monsters that it suctions up into its spout were picked up from the Bermuda Triangle's center, and it travels at a speed of 300 mph ( 483 kph ), the Monsternado ๐ŸŒช️ will take just ~1 hour & 25 minutes to make landfall! In other words, the monsters would have already been dead by then because the 4X speed at which they are being spun around in the duration of said spin Would Make Their Blood Cells Precipitate From The Plasma Fluid because of the Centrifugal Force Exerted Against Their Blood; And Their Brain Cells Would Die For Lack Of Oxygen, For Carbon Dioxide Build-Up, For Waste Matter Build-Up, For No Nutrients Uptake & For Intense Internal Organs Pressure!

( My Physics professor once said that there's no such thing as "Centrifugal Force," that it should be termed Centripetal Force! Eh, whatever. ๐Ÿ™„  'Same difference .... After all, scientists use Centrifuges, not "Centripuges"! ๐Ÿ˜ )

The hotel bedroom scene with the FBI agent on top of the suspect would have been hilariously funny had they specifically hired dylan mulvaney for that agent's role--no one would notice the difference, except in the chest area!  ๐Ÿ˜œ

Oh, sure. Threaten an innocent hotel staff member, who's suffering from a heart attack, with your loaded gun! ๐Ÿคฆ‍♂️

Those floppy Pterodactyls' wings would never keep them on the air, especially in our present day atmosphere ( remember kids: Floppy wings aren't Flappy ) which is not as dense as that during most of the Cretaceous Period! And they would first need to ACCLIMATIZE, too❗All of the prehistoric monsters would, maybe even the Suchus ๐ŸŠ❗❗But understand that in the case of the Suchus, it would also NEED to recharge in the Sun because it is a cold blooded creature ❗❗❗Which the Suchus never had the opportunity to do! ๐Ÿ˜• And there's the difference in atmospheric composition to consider, as well. So ... such monsters running loose today is never happening---Maybe! I say, Maybe, because some scientists are actually trying to clone the Wooly Mammoth ๐Ÿฆฃ and Lord knows what else ....  ๐Ÿ™„

The FEMA guy just wants to earn for himself some "brownie points" in an Election Year. Since this movie was made last year, it's talking about THIS year's election! Is it another coincidence, Conspiracy Theorists need to know? ๐Ÿคจ

"The alarms have been going off all afternoon!" Funny, I don't hear any alarm. Do you?  ๐Ÿคท‍♂️

In the scene with a guy sitting on top of the car, why didn't any Pterodactyl pluck him up? And the water level was low enough so that the Shark ๐Ÿฆˆ cruising by should have had BOTH of its Dorsal and Tail Fins cutting through the water!  ๐Ÿง

At 00:39:50, the bad guy had his back facing the armed agents that he failed to disarm. ๐Ÿคฆ‍♂️ Why didn't the agents "aerate" the backside of his suit?  ๐Ÿคท‍♂️

Hold them off with what? How many bullets do you have in your gun, hon? And she's trigger happy, racking up the wrong body count!  ๐Ÿ˜’

She hit the bad guy in the face, the very same bad guy that is holding a gun pointed straight at her. I don't know about him. But if someone were to hit me in the face, my hands, especially my trigger hand, would clench reflexively!  ๐Ÿ™„

Old ex-military man said, "Granada," instead of, Grenada, an island country which is a member of The Caribbean Community! And which is about 900 miles ( 1448 km ) from  Bermuda! And which I would think has more Strife in it than in Granada, Spain!

I thought that the hotel windows were tornado-proof! That Octopus ๐Ÿ™ sure did an easy job of breaking through one!

Wait, what? Is that a coed ๐Ÿšป restroom in a

hotel❗๐Ÿ˜ฒ❓๐Ÿ˜œ❗

For a bunch of big Crabs ๐Ÿฆ€ or Lobsters ๐Ÿฆž with very powerful claws, the only thing that was missing from their victim was its face❗๐Ÿคฆ‍♂️❗

You should have listened to her when she ordered you to "Get your ass down here!" I mean, given the situation, no one should even have to say anything to you!  ๐Ÿคฆ‍♂️

He had the chance to give Kelly a "goodbye" kiss! ๐Ÿ˜˜  It was then or never---A legitimate excuse, if ever there was one!  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Those Spiders that cut a man's arm off must have built-in Ginsu knives!

Why would a ( not a Sarcosuchus ) Crocodile ๐ŸŠ crawl willingly into the gaping mouth of a Megalodon ๐Ÿฆˆ?  ๐Ÿค”

Damn, the traffic sure looked normal instead of the long lines of bumper-to-bumper traffic that is commonly associated with such a disaster! ๐Ÿ‘Ž

The car has a moonroof that he could've easily crawled in through.  Hello ....   ๐Ÿ˜’

Floyd screamed too soon!  ๐Ÿ˜… Where's the new guy Scene Editor?  ๐Ÿคจ

"Stay rigid❗ Don't go limp!" It sounds like the Viagra commercial that plays once in a while during the streaming of this movie.  ๐Ÿคช

Even the Tornado, as busy as it was spinning Sharks around, lowered its intensity and lingered around just long enough to see how this movie was going to wrap things up ❗ ๐Ÿ™ƒ❗ Because even Tornados have inquiring minds ....  ๐Ÿ˜

That's A Wrap!  ๐ŸŽฌ

Just in case you're wondering why some of the characters speak with a British accent, wonder no more. This movie was actually filmed inside the Nhouse(?) Hotel in London!

-
But who's Kelly in this movie? ๐Ÿคท‍♂️ Every one around one particular character kept calling her, Kelly. But there's no one actress credited with that role in the Ending Credits! ๐Ÿ” But if you search for this movie's Cast members' photos, one in particular sticks out, that of Chloe Carr, who plays the role of Lara. Yet No One Among The Cast & Crew Noticed The Mistake, Not Even The Scriptwriter Or The Scriptgirl❓๐Ÿคฆ‍♂️❗๐Ÿคท‍♂️❓Must Cine-Man do all of your works for free?!?!?! Give me a Break, PLEASE❗๐Ÿ™❗

Why doesn't Whollyweird hire the services of Cine-Man ALREADY to help them with their Action Scenes?  ๐Ÿคท‍♂️

Tidbit:

I'm in the process of composing an e-mail to send to the Singapore Embassy. I want them to tell me exactly why my Singaporean readers are cut-off from accessing my movie blogsite. I'll have to do the same for the Czechia and the Canada Embassies, too. Their actions are preposterous!

costs: $7.25 Ticket + $3.75 small Diet/Zero ( w/ Barq's & Cherry flavors ) Coke = $11.00
auditorium: 1
seat: 4th row, 8ht column

synopsis:
A young woman, Anna ( Amy Adams ), tired of waiting to be proposed to, goes to Dublin, Ireland, to propose to her boyfriend, Jeremy ( Adam Scott ), on February 29th when, according to local tradition, a woman can propose to a man. But fate has other plans.

noteworthy scenes:
1.) Surprise eyes; 2.) Leap Year proposal; 3.) Diverted flight; 4.) Sarcastic Gaelic Air representatives; 5.) Boat; 6.) Garagh's Bar; 7.) The overnight room; 8.) Superstitious folks; 9.) Tradition; 10.) The van; 11.) Bar brawl; 12.) Bar brawl; 13.) The castle; 14.) Bed and Breakfast; 15.) The kiss; 16.) Sunday; 17.) Wedding dance; 18.) Park bench; 19.) The proposal; 20.) The reunion; 21.) The house warming party; 22.) The 60-second test; 23.) The chicken's dry; 24.) The plan to unplan; 25.) The ring; and 26.) The trip.

audience reaction:
The audience ( i.e. the women ) liked this movie and gave it a "Hands Clapper" ending.

recommendation:
This is a light Rom-Com that couples might enjoy seeing.

spoiler alert!
Who's the Hollywood Idiot who scheduled this movie's release for this year, which is NOT A LEAP YEAR? The last Leap Year was 2008 and the next one is 2012! And 2016 is when February 29th falls closest to a Sunday since it will be on the following day, Monday. That old car sure runs whisper-quiet, and with no road noise and no wind noise on top of that! ( 'Must be a Lexus. Ha, ha, ha. ) Why did Declan ( Matthew Goode ) sleep in the shower when there was plenty of room on the bedroom floor?

fyi:
An hour before the movie, as I sat and ate at Selecta Filipino Buffet here on Springs Road and watched the Philippine news on TV, I found out that in the Philippines, where there is no divorce but where annulment of marriage ( same difference, if you ask me ) is allowed, some activists are trying to pass a law in which an expiration date of 10 years will be affixed to a marriage contract. Are they saying that I can have a new hot and sexy wife every 10 years? Wow! talk about "New Lease on Life"--married life, that is. If and when this law passes, I'll pack my bags and go prospecting for a 10-year marriage ( I'd better stock-up on Viagra now ).

When an Irish greets you with, "Top of the morning to you," the proper response is, "And the rest of the day to you, too."

Oh, how I envy those who were born on the 29th of February since I'm not the type to celebrate anniversaries and holidays.

word of advice: A regular customer of mine, Mr. Babcock, said, "If you marry a woman, marry her because you love her."

tidbits:
At around 12:30 p.m. today, just when I had a lot of customers in line, I had a bad nosebleed! I had to get out of my checkstand right-quick to go head straight for the men's room to stop the bleeding. They had to get somebody else to step-in for me and take care of all those customers. Luckily, I was able to stop it in under five minutes and was able to return to my checkstand fresh and blood-free. I never had it this bad at work before. And to think I swabbed my nostrils with petroleum jelly before I left for work today to keep them from going dry. I must have missed a spot in my left nostril!

After the movie, I decided to go to the nearby CVS Drugstore to buy Cold Relief caplets and Nighttime Cold & Flu Relief liquid. On my way, I drove by the Goodwill Thrift Store which just opened in the shopping center. You know the economy is bad when you see a thrift store relocated to an upscale part of town!

On another note, the heel pain in my left foot is somewhat subsiding now.

HALLOWEEN II, R ( 1 hr & 41 min )

where: CENTURY 14 VALLEJO in Vallejo, CA
when: Saturday, August 29th, 2009
show: 6:30 p.m.
costs: $10.00 Ticket + $3.75 small Diet/Zero ( w/ Cherry flavor ) Coke + $4.00 junior Popcorn = $17.75
auditorium: 14
seat: 5th row, 7th column

synopsis: A year after Michael Myers' ( Tyler Mane ) body disappears in an accident en route to the county morgue on a Halloween night, more people meet with gruesomely violent deaths in the Haddonfield community.

noteworthy scenes: 1.) Bloodied survivor, Laurie Strode ( Scout Taylor-Compton ) walking in the rain at night; 2.) The transport van; 3.) At the hospital; 4.) In a farmer's field at night; 5.) At the Rabbit In Red stripper club; 6.) Book signing event; 7.) Angel Myers; 8.) The Newman Hour TV show; 9.) The Halloween party; 10.) Sheriff Lee Brackett's ( Brad Dourif ) residence; 11.) The would-be Samaritan; and 12.) The shack.

audience reaction: A few laughs among the somewhat bored audience.

recommendation: Wait for this to come out as a rental--it should be ready by Halloween if you won't be busy Trick-or-Treating.

spoiler alert! First, why weren't professional trackers and bloodhounds dispatched to hunt down Michael Myers in the first place, especially since he preferred to walk rather than to hitch rides? ( You can't really fault Michael for not hitching rides because it can be very dangerous to accept a ride from strangers! Ha, ha, ha. ) Since he didn't really leave the general area, why did Michael take a year to once again catch up with his intended victims? Why didn't the transport van have airbags? Why didn't Laurie activate the fire alarm to summon help in the hospital? Why did The Moody Blues' "Night in White Satin" keep playing over and over and over ON the television? Why didn't Michael's head get bashed-in by the baseball bat? Why didn't the farm girl drive off? Why did the Vietnam Vet "old fart", holding a gun, walk up to Michael? How did Michael get from the party all the way to the sheriff's house so fast by just simply walking the distance? How did Michael get inside the house? Why didn't the stupid girls call 9-1-1 right away? How did Michael get downstairs without being detected in the process of doing so? When the sheriff happened upon the naked body of his daughter, why didn't he cover her up with his jacket? ( Oooh! I know this one: He went out of character and ogled the young, hot actress's body--the horny Viagra "old fart" that he is. ) Why didn't Laurie drive off? Why didn't the car horn and explosion alert the cops right away? What witness? Where? Why didn't a cop escort Dr. Loomis ( Malcolm McDowell ) to the door, at least? And, last, why was the isolation room in the psycho ward so big and spacious?

Why was this stupid film released two months before Halloween?

fyi: Scout Taylor-Compton can act well enough so I hope this movie doesn't relegate her to roles in crappy films or sound the Death Knell to her career.

Back in Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines, one pre-dawn morning on our way to pick up our mom at the airport, our army jeep hit a carabao ( water buffalo ) on the highway as it chased after some punks who provoked it. The carabao laid crippled on the road's shoulder with some of its intestinal contents littering the road. The carabao did manage to gore the windshield on the passenger side, though. But none of us got seriously harmed--not even a scratch ( except for my brother who got a black eye when he hit the back corner of the passenger seat with his face ); and the jeep didn't even have airbags, seat belts or headrests! My right foot got caught in the machine gunner's stirrup which kept me from flying toward the windshield. So that scene with the cow is pure bull shit, based on my family's ( plus a neighbor's daughter who accompanied us ) personal experience in a smaller and lighter vehicle that had none of today's vehicles' safety features!

word of advice: If you don't know how to write a decent movie script and/or direct a film, invest some money and hire people who do! And I'm willing to work cheap ( Asian Sweat Shop Labor ), for now, as I've said more than once already.

tidbits: Clearly, Rob Zombie is The ED WOOD for this century!

Before that trip to the airport, I brushed my teeth over the kitchen sink. As I was putting the Colgate toothpaste back in the cupboard, its cap came off and fell on the counter. Right there and then, I had a premonition that something bad was going to happen. As it turned out, I was right.
