HUNTER KILLER, R ( 2 hr & 1 min )

-

I went to see movie twice, on its 7:00 p.m. ( auditorium 3, seat C6 ) advanced screening on Thursday, October 25th, 2018 and today, Saturday, October 27th, at 4:30 p.m. ( auditorium 3, seat B4 ), both at the Century 14 Vallejo, here in Vallejo, CA.

Quickie Review:  An untested US Navy Submarine Captain ( Gerard Butler ) goes to Russia to save the Russian President ( Alexander Diachenko ) from a coup d'etat orchestrated by the rouge Russian Defense Minister ( Michael Gor ) to avert a nuclear war between the two superpowers.

The audience liked this movie; some even gave it a "Hands Clapper" ending. I liked this movie, too, enough to see it twice! Go see this Suspense Thriller.

Michael Nyqvist, who played the role of the Russian Submarine Captain, died after this movie was completed last year.  RIP   😞

The female US President ( Caroline Goodall ) reminded me of hillary bodybags clinton!   😠

******************************************

After the movie, I had a run-in in the parking lot:

At 7:00 p.m., a paranoid Pinoy asshole came up to me in the Century 14 Vallejo parking lot, where I was scrolling through my Facebook page, and asked me if I was videotaping something.
Of what? I asked him. It's dark out. How was I gonna get a good image of anything? 😕
He said that I was holding up my cellphone for over a minute. I told the paranoid Pinoy idiot that I am near-sighted and showed him my Facebook page. He said it looked to him that I was videotaping him because I casually had the back of my cellphone aimed in the general direction of his car, which was about 60 feet away--twice the distance of where I parked my car. He accused me of videotaping, once again. Of what? I asked him again. I am just minding my own fucking business, I told him in a raised voice as I was getting angry with him because of his false accusation! I was getting in 🤜 "Battle Mode," 🤛 and ready to do some serious bodily harm to the paranoid Pinoy idiot.
He walked away. He was lucky that he didn't press me some more with his paranoid accusation. Because he was unwittingly pressing my "Fight" buttons. And I don't take kindly to false accusations---IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL!

Over half an hour later:

Just now, at 7:36 p.m., a black guy just walked by me and asked if I work here. No, I don't, I responded. What's going on tonight? There's not even a full moon in the night sky. But paranoid idiots are out in force, it seems! 😕

I'm gonna have to check my horoscope forecast for this evening! 🙃

Someday, If I ever get into a fight in a theatre or outside in its parking lot, it will be here at the Century 14 Vallejo! There are so many asshole idiots who come here, I swear. Especially on weekends.

TRICO TRI: HAPPY HALLOWEEN, MISS GRANNY, QISMAT

PG-13,  1 hr & 30 min @ 4:35 p.m. ( $5.75 )
 -

NR,  2 hr & 00 min @ 6:30 p.m. ( $11.50 )
 -

NR,  2 hr & 17 min @ 9:30 p.m. ( $11.50 )
-

I went to see these movies yesterday, Monday, October 1st, 2018, at the Century 16 Hilltop in Richmond, CA.

TRICO TRI: HAPPY HALLOWEEN is about a brother & sister ghost siblings who make it their vow to keep haunting their former home until a deserving family is found to occupy it.

MISS GRANNY is about an old lady who is given a second chance at youth but sacrifices it at the end.

QISMAT is about a man in a pending arranged marriage and about a woman who is also pledged to be betrothed to someone else. But cruel fate puts them in each other's way. And their unrequited love ends in a tragic way.

All three movies, to me, were sad. It went from Sad  😭, Sadder  😭😭, Saddest  😭😭😭! I don't like movies like these. I like movies with a happy--or hopeful--ending.

*****************************************

Before seeing these movies, I went to the GOIN' POSTAL in the FoodMaxx Shopping Center on the corner of Redwood & Tuolumne Streets here in Vallejo, CA. My MONGOOSE EXPO STUNT KICK-BIKE had already arrived.   😊

-

Then, I took it to Wheels In Motion Skate & Bike Shop in Benicia, CA, for professional assembly and adjustment.

I will pick it up on Wednesday, right after work, and take it to the Benicia State Park for its trial run. This kick-bike is better suited for the hike/bike trail at the park.

Whereas, my kick-scooters cannot handle being used at the trail. They eventually wear-down, sooner or later, even though they have dual suspension. I already had 2 kick-scooters wear-down on me. They were designed only to be ridden on smooth pavement/sidewalk.

Last year, an orthopedic surgeon advised me not to go jogging anymore because of my bad left knee. She suggested that I either just walk or ride a bicycle for exercise. But walking or biking are too easy for me. Kick-scooting/kick-biking is harder than walking and can even be harder than jogging if you force yourself to go up an incline--you'd be better off jogging OR walking up that incline!

Kick-scooting is faster than walking BUT slower than jogging.

Kick-biking  CAN BE faster than jogging, depending on how big the wheels are. The Mongoose Expo Stunt Kick-Bike has 12-inch/30.50 centimeter wheels. There are kick-bikes out there with bigger wheels and, consequently, are much faster.

I will find out on Wednesday just how fast this Mongoose Expo Stunt Kick-Bike is.

My personal speed record on a round-trip distance on a kick-scooter is 14 minutes & 51 seconds. Which I achieved on a Black/Green X-Spec 924 Kick-Scooter.

-

For some strange reason, this kick-scooter is faster than my slightly lighter-weight Blue Ancheer Kick-Scooter.  😕

-

The fastest same-distance time that I ever achieved on my Blue Ancheer Kick-Scooter was 15 minutes & 21 seconds.    😞

THE NUN, R ( 1 hr & 36 min )

-

I went to see this movie yesterday, Wednesday, September 12th, 2018, here in Vallejo, CA, at the Century 14 Vallejo, for the 12:30 p.m. show in auditorium 7, seat D 10. The price of admission was $5.75.  And I bought a small fountain drink at the concessions counter for $4.55.

Quickie Review: A noviciate and a priest go to Romania to investigate a paranormal occurrence.

There were just 3 or 4 people in the auditorium with me. I don't know how any of them reacted to the movie. But I didn't find it scary at all.

****************

Here are two things wrong in this movie:  The priest and the novitiate slept in their beds with their shoes on and had no blankets. The upside-down cross is really the symbol of St. Peter, it's not Satanic.

****************

The French guy said, "Holy shit!" 😲   So, I guess he had it coming.  😮

****************

The actress, Taissa Farmiga,  playing the role of the novitiate, is the sister of Vera Farmiga, who has a cameo at the end.

When Jesus ( Yeshua Ha'Mashiach ) died on the Cross, a Roman soldier pierced his side with a spear. His Blood gushed forth and spilled on the ground. Soon, there was an earthquake which split the rock beneath the Cross. Jesus' Blood dripped down the crack and unto the Mercy Seat of the Ark of The Covenant which was stored in a secret room beneath the ground. Thus, fulfilling the requirement that the blood of the Sacrificial Lamb be put on the Mercy Seat.

****************

An American (?) archaeologist discovered this secret room. And he took a sample of the blood with him for scientific analysis. Supposedly, when some scientist did an analysis on the sample of the fresh-looking blood, said scientist only discovered 24 Chromosomes in it, instead of the usual 23 Chromosomes per parent. So, the first 23 Chromosomes in the blood sample were those that came from Mary. But the 1 other Chromosome came from God, as postulated. It's on YouTube.

****************

Earlier in the day, before seeing this movie, I went to the Benicia State Park in Benicia, CA, to kick-scoot 🛴 for 00:15:46 from 11:14:00 a.m. 'til 11:29:46 a.m. on a distance of 2.50 miles/4.02 kilometers. My record is 00:15:19 which I set 2 Thursdays ago, on the same kick-scooter: A dual-suspension Black/Green X-Spec 921 Kick-Scooter with a lever handbrake.

CRAZY RICH ASIANS, PG-13 ( 2 hr & 0 min )

-

I saw this movie last week but waited all this time to write about it because I have to mention a little spoiler at the end. In this way, I hope that most of you who wanted to see this movie will have already seen it by then; and my little spoiler wouldn't be such a spoiler after all.

Yes, I liked this movie. And I highly recommend this movie to anyone who's into Chick Flicks.

Now, for the little spoiler: The Games Theory Professor girlfriend got played at the end by her boyfriend's shrewd mother's "power move". Here's the hint: At the wedding attended by the princess who didn't want anybody sitting close to her.

-

BUYBUST, R [?] ( 2 hr & 6 min )

-

I saw this Philippine Action Movie sometime last week.

It's about an anti-drug raid gone bad in a gritty, seedy slum area in Manila. The drug agents are forced to kill their way out of the predicament that they found themselves in.

The real action starts at about 15 minutes into the movie and doesn't let-up 'til the end.

I liked it. Unfortunately, this is the last day to go see it. But you could always watch it as a DVD rental when it comes out.

GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES, PG-13 ( 1 hr & 40 min )

-

I went to see this movie on Sunday, August 8ht, 2018, here in Vallejo, CA, at the Century 14 Vallejo, for the 12:55 p.m. show in auditorium 1, B6. The price of admission for this special Fathom Event was $12.50. I didn't buy anything at the concessions counter because the line was too long and the movie was about to start.

Quickie Review: In the waning months of World War II, in the Pacific Theatre, the US drops incendiary bombs all over Japan. Because of it, a boy and his little sister lose their mother and must fend for themselves in their war-torn town with very little hope for survival. Based on a retelling of a war survivor's personal account.

********************

I liked this sad, metaphorical movie. It shows a side of war that's usually left out: The perspective of those that are helpless casualties of such a conflict. I would recommend it as an animation movie to see. But, be advised, the subject matter is not suitable for kids.

********************

Since last month, I've been on a fitness plan: I kick-scoot    🛴   at the Benicia State Park at least three times a week. Because, last year, an orthopedic surgeon told me to stop jogging   🏃  since I have a bad knee. She recommended that I just walk   🚶  or 🚴   bike. But either one is too easy. Kick-scooting is harder than walking and slightly easier than jogging. So, kick-scooting, it is! And I'm still getting a good workout!     ☺️

I can't upload the pictures of my kick-scooters, for some reason. I can just give you the name and description of each: A gold Fuzion City Glide with dual rear brakes; a white Goplus with dual suspension and rear disc brake; and a blue Ancheer with dual suspension. The Goplus has rubber wheels. Whereas the other two have polyurethane wheels. All of them have 8-inch wheels.

I gave the gold Fuzion to a co-worker because it doesn't have dual suspension and is therefore not suitable for kick-scooting at the Benicia State Park.   😕

And I learned the hard way that I have to check my Goplus's rear wheel first every single time before I kick-scoot with it. Because its disc brake has a tendency to start rubbing against the wheel if it's not adjusted first before each ride; it has two adjustment screws for just that.

So far, my Ancheer Kick-Scooter is the best one.

I may need to try other kick-scooters to see which ones are the best in each of these categories: 8-inch, 12-inch, 16-inch, 20-inch and 26-inch wheels.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, PG-13 ( 2 hr & 8 min )

-

I went to see this yesterday, Thursday, June 21st, 2018, at the CENTURY 14 VALLEJO, here in Vallejo, CA, for the 3:40 p.m. advanced screening double feature ( JURASSIC WORLD & JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM ) in auditorium 1, seat B-6. The price of admission was $18.00. And I bought a Large Popcorn & a Large Fountain Drink at the concessions counter for the special price of $9.00 for both ( it came with a free refill for each one, but I was too full to go for seconds; besides, I did sneak-in a $1.49 piece of Teriyaki Beef Jerky to eat during the second feature ).

Quickie Review:  The long-dormant volcano on Isla Nublar awakens, threatening to wipe-out the dinosaurs on the island. It is up to Owen ( Chris Pratt ) and Claire ( Bryce Dallas Howard ) to save the dinosaurs from extinction.

What are the things wrong in this movie:

When Owen was lying on the ground just within two feet of the flowing lava, his clothes would have started to smoke and possibly would have caught on fire. I know this for a fact because I used to work at a die-casting shop wherein I was usually just two feet away from molten metal ( aluminum, zinc and brass--aluminum was the "coldest" and the brass was the HOTTEST ) where I stood to ladle red-hot molten metals into their respective crucibles and forklift them to the die-casters' stations. At that close proximity to the molten metals, my overalls would start to smoke; and my gloves would start to catch on fire. I would douse the gloves in cold water and go back to ladling the molten metals; but, then, my gloves would start to steam--and this was worse than the gloves catching on fire!

Owen and the dinosaurs were running from the Nuee Ardente ( the ash and smoke coming out of the volcano ) when, in truth, they would have all been burned and died of toxic smoke inhalation. What I learned in Geology is that Nuee Ardente is toxic, hot, and travels very fast!

When they jumped off the cliff and into the sea below, they would have been boiled to death because a lot of super-heated rocks fell into the sea all around them.

They stowed-away on that ship. 'Just one big problem, though: Isla Nublar, off the coast of Costa Rica, is about ten days away from their intended destination: Northern California. So, where did they go to empty their bladders and move their bowels, and how were they able to have some food and water during the entire trip?

Possible "Easter Eggs" ...

When  the little girl was taken back into her room, on the table in the foreground, you can see a white action figure that resembles the main character in the PLANET OF THE APES remake. Also, when the assistant and the nanny are in the hallway, right above them is a circular window that's similar to the one in the PLANET OF THE APES' main ape's former home.

**************************************

Nobody gave this movie a "Hands Clapper" ending.

There's a Bonus Scene after the Ending Credits.

TRUTH OR DARE, PG-13 ( 1 hr & 40 min ) / DA ONE THAT GHOST AWAY, NR ( 1 hr & 43 min )

-

I went to see this on Monday, April 30th, 2018, here in Vallejo, CA, at the Century 14 Vallejo, for the 4:30 p.m. show.

Quickie Review:  A group of friends go on Spring Break somewhere in Mexico. Where they are lured into playing a deadly game of Truth or Dare.

What I think about this movie:  It's not really a horror movie, per se. It's more of a suspense movie. And I don't get why the curse was not lifted after the incantation was already said and done the required seven times and all they had to do was put the sacrificial offering inside of the jar. I, also, didn't like its ending.

**************************************

-

I went to see this yesterday, Tuesday, May 1st, 2018, in Richmond, CA, at the Century 16 Hilltop, for the 10:20 p.m. show.

Quickie Review:  A fake paranormal investigator/exorcist and her team finally get more than they ask for when they agree to do their work in a haunted mansion.

What I think about this movie:  It's not scary; and it's not even funny. I wasted gasoline, subjected my car to unnecessary wear-and-tear, and wasted my time and money to go see this "movie." This movie, for me, was a big let-down; especially considering that the lead actress, Kim Chiu, did a good performance in last year's THE GHOST BRIDE.

The South Korean actor, Ryan Bang, was the only one that I liked in this "movie."

**************************************

I wanted to see both movies back-to-back. But, as I was about to leave the Sonoma Boulevard McDonald's Restaurant here in Vallejo, CA, where I had dinner and where I spent time on the Internet until their closing time at 10:00 p.m., I was unable to use the men's room, first, before heading off to Richmond because some male employees were cleaning it. Since my bladder was really full, I decided to just head on home and see DA ONE THAT GHOST AWAY the following night.

And the reason why I wanted to see both movies on the same day was because of what happened to me in a predawn hour on Monday.

Here is what happened ....

An early morning FaceBook Messenger message to
my siblings:

Today, Monday, April 30th, at 2:11 a.m., as I laid
in my futon trying to decide if I should go empty my
bladder or just sleep it through, I noticed with my very
slightly opened eyes a faint light, like from a very
tiny flashlight, 🔦 sweeping across my living room
then aiming at a spot to my left. All of a sudden, I felt
someone/something put a dark “box” 📦 on my left
that occupied an area alongside my hip and knee, in
approximate length. The “box” had some heft to it.
And, then, whatever it was, it searched the room--
where I was in--with its “flashlight”. Finally, it retrieved
the box and put it on a “shelf” or “top bunk bed”
about a yard away from my left side.

I wondered to myself, That’s odd. The last time that
my siblings and I slept in the same room was when
we were still living in the two-bedroom apartment in
Matina, Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines back in the
early ‘70s. Why would there be a bunk bed near me, I
asked myself. 🤔

I wanted to see if the very stealthy
someone/something would do anything else as I
laid there pretending to be fast asleep while a song
played like a broken record in my mind ( I think
that it was the song with these lyrics: “I saw the sign.
I opened up my eyes and saw the sign 🎶”---Yeah, I
know, funny things do happen to me at The Most
Inappropriate of times LOL ). Then, I realized once
again that I live all alone in my condo and that I don't
even have a bunk bed! 😨 But I wasn’t afraid, though,
not in the least bit. Because I was just so calmly
observing its presence.

I kept still as I intently tried to sense some more
the presence of this silent visitor/intruder. But, to my
dismay, it had already gone. It probably sensed that
I was no longer fast asleep. Dammit! 😡

After a few more minutes, I got up to empty my
bladder at 2:20 a.m. And I went into my kitchen to
drink some water. 🥛

Now, I write this as I wait to fall asleep once again
as I do have a 7:00 a.m. appointment with my
periodontist.

Goodnight. 🛋️

SUPER TROOPERS 2, R ( 1 hr & 43 min )

-

I went to see this today, Friday, April 20th, 2018, in Napa, CA, at the Century Napa Valley 12, for its 4:45 p.m. showing in auditorium 2, row 4, seat 10. The price of admission was $9.25. And I bought a 20.0 oz Dasani Water for $4.10 (?) at the concessions counter.

Quickie Review:  When the borderline between the US and Canada is about to be redrawn, the Super Troopers are called back to active duty to set-up a Highway Patrol Station in a disputed border town of Canada.

What I think about this movie: This movie is not much of an improvement on the original. But for fans of the original SUPER TROOPERS, this is a welcome sequel.

Two scenes that I found funny: "The Key To Life Is To Have Happiness In Your Household ( said in the "French-Canadian" way was hilarious )"; and "Wrapped In The Japanese Flag."

However, the "Wet T-Shirt" scene--that the rest of the audience found funny--was just plain ridiculous to me ( taking too many Science courses in college will do that to anyone, I guess )!   😕

There are outtake scenes during the Ending Credits; and a scene after it.

-------------------------------------------------------------

So, today, I went to my place of employment to pick-up my paycheque and to look at my next week's schedule. And, wouldn't you know it, I am scheduled to work next week when I'm supposed to have it off! You see, I was supposed to have last week off and this week off. But they screwed-up my vacation and had me scheduled to work last week! The manager told me that he will give me this week off--which I did--and next week off--which I DIDN'T. Arrgh ....   😠   When I go to work next week, I'll be sure to give the manager a daily reminder that I want the following week off.

I planned to have two weeks off back-to-back to do some Spring Cleaning around the house. But that isn't happening now because ... 1.) I've been sick the last four days,   🤒     🤧   and 2.) My vacation schedule was messed-up. Oh, well ....

I deposited some of my money at the Benicia Chase Bank. And I'm just one measly payment away from paying-off my mortgage!   ☺️   I could pay it off right now--or even much sooner--but I decided to just let my automatic mortgage payment end it come May 1st, a Tuesday.     😀

But, you know what really pisses me off about my mortgage? The total principal payment left is for $46.15 plus an interest of $0.31 AND ... a "filing fee/recording costs" of $100.00!   😵   They get you, coming and going! Bankers seem like a bunch of "white collar" crooks!

I went to the Mirchi Indian Grill on Columbus Parkway, Benicia, to have a buffet lunch.     😋

And I had to go to the Vallejo branch of the California Automobile Association ( CSAA ) to get a new license tag for my blue Hyundai Accent.    🚗   As today is the deadline for it.

Just before I got to the boundary between Vallejo and American Canyon, I hit a 3- or 4- inch sawed-off branch laying on the road!   😲  I couldn't swerve to the left because there was a car there beside my car. I checked my car's front right tire later on and it seemed okay.   Whew!      😓

And on the way to Napa, on the bridge just past the American Canyon Super Wal-Mart, I saw a dead fawn on the side of the bridge. Poor thing.     😢

Before going to the theatre, I decided to stop at the nearby Jack In The Box to have a large fountain drink because it was hot today. When I entered the parking lot, some bitch in a black SUV cut me off at the intersection! She had the stop sign and I had the right of way. But did she yield to me? No, because the idiot bitch was clueless of the fact that a vehicle entering a parking lot has the right of way over a vehicle exiting said parking lot--it's printed clearly in the California ( CLUSTERFUCKNIA is what I call it now because of the libertard idiots running it into the ground ) Driver's Handbook!      😤

I've been calling my home state, CLUSTERFUCKNIA, for almost a year now; no thanks to "gov." moonbeam and his minions!      😡

After the movie was over, I searched the floor for the Dasani Water's bottle cap which had fallen sometime earlier. I found it. I also found a Nickel and 2 Dimes!  Thank you, Lord, for this token of abundance.      😃

This SUPER TROOPERS 2 movie is partially funded by individuals through INDIEGOGO. Now, I know what to do with some of my money should I win the lottery Big-Time!     🤑

GOD'S NOT DEAD: A LIGHT IN DARKNESS / PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST

PG  ( 1 hr & 46 min )
-

I went to see this movie on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018, at the Edward's Fairfield Stadium 16 & I-Max, in Fairfield, CA, for the 11:20 a.m. showing in auditorium 5, row 4, seat 7. The price of admission was $5.45.

Quickie Review:  A church at a college campus accidentally burns. And the college wastes no time in trying to have the historical landmark demolished to make way for a student center. The minister ( David A. R. White ) enlists the aid of his lawyer brother ( John Corbett ), an atheist, to help him win the case.

Here's what  I don't like about this movie:  In today's "intellectually enlightened" society, people
are moving away from the God of the Bible and embracing the STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, Math ) gods. This movie illustrates the shift in the belief of the masses. But, also, it foreshadows the alarming anti-Christian/pro-Islam trend that is taking place in Europe and in the USA.

PG-13   ( 1 hr & 48 min )
-

I went to see this on the same day and at the same theatre as the previous movie. I watched this movie in auditorium 2, row 3, seat 9. The price of admission was $5.45. And I bought a medium fountain drink ( half pink lemonade/half fruit punch ) at the concessions counter for $6.50.

Quickie Review:  It is near the end of Paul's ( James Faulkner ) life as he sits in jail awaiting the time of his execution. His faithful companion, Luke ( Jim Caviezel ), writes his final sermons.

Here's what I don't like about this movie:  Paul was not, I repeat, was not an apostle of Christ! He never met Jesus Christ. He was not even a disciple of any one of the 12 apostles. He belonged to a mob that went around stoning Christ's Apostles and Disciples. Saint Peter was divinely appointed by Christ, Himself, as the successor/founder of the Christian Church. Paul was humanly appointed--by none other than his own self--to head the "church"; and he introduced ideas that run contrary to the teachings of Christ, a two-fold blasphemy against the Holy Spirit! Paul presided over the "church" in place of Christ's chosen successor. The Greeks have a term for it: Anti Christo ( you know what it means ).

Luke, on the other hand was a former slave who became a physician. A later scene shows the Roman officer ( Olivier Martinez ) asking Luke for medical help instead of asking Paul for a miraculous healing. This is a very telling development in the movie. Anyway, Luke was also not an apostle of Christ--he, too, never even met Christ, Himself.

SUBEDAR JOGINDER SINGH, NR ( 2 hr & 19 min )

-

I went to see this movie's 10:25 p.m. showing yesterday, Thursday, April 12th, 2018, at the Century Hilltop 16 in Richmond, CA, in auditorium 13, row 6, seat 8. The price of admission was $11.50. And I bought a 20 oz. Dasani Water for $4.25 at the concessions counter.

Quickie Review:  A military officer, with experience in two previous wars, is recalled into active duty in 1962 during the Sino-India Border War. Heavily outnumbered, he and his men achieve martyrdom in the field of battle. Subedar Singh was posthumously awarded India's Highest Wartime Gallantry Award.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I went to see this upon the recommendation of Taj Grill Restaurant's proprietor here in Vallejo, CA, when I went to have lunch there the day before, on Wednesday. I had mentioned to him that I recently saw SAJJAN SINGH RANGROOT. That was when he told me to go check-out SUBEDAR JOGINDER SINGH.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed in this movie.

-------------------------------------------------------------

What's wrong with this movie?  The battle, as depicted, left much to be desired. I really don't know how it unfolded in real life; but the way it was depicted in this movie did not make sense. The Indian Army had the advantage as they were on top of a hill. But they didn't take advantage of that for these reasons: Their trenches were not built properly; by this, I mean that small "portholes" should have been built into the walls to afford the shooters with better head protection; there were no snipers posted; they were not spread out; the two times that the Chinese soldiers retreated, they should have appropriated the dead soldiers' rifles, grenades and ammunition since their ammunition was in short supply.

But the glaring error was the fact that this movie showed Subedar Singh fighting to the death. When, in reality, he was critically wounded, captured, and taken to Tibet as a p.o.w. where he died from his wounds.

The Chinese, out of respect for the Indian hero, returned his ashes to his homeland when India awarded Subedar Singh with the highest military honors.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Before the movie started, I wanted to have dinner at the nearby McDonald's Restaurant. But it closed at 9:00 p.m. I scanned the whole shopping center to see if there was another restaurant open late at night. That was when I spotted Me n Ed's Pizza Parlor across the parking lot.

-

I should have worn my jacket, instead of my vest, when I walked two hundred yards from the theatre to the restaurant.   😕

I had a sandwich and a fountain drink. I forget how much I paid for both.

P.S. I liked SAJJAN SINGH RANGROOT better--except for the "British" lady with her bad English accent.     😆

BAAGHI 2, NR ( 2 hr & 17 min )

-

I went to the MAYA CINEMAS, in Pittsburg, CA, yesterday, Monday, April 9th, 2018, to see the 7:30 p.m. showing of this movie in auditorium 6, row 4, seat 6. The price of admission was $10.00. And I bought a medium drink and a medium popcorn for $11-something.

Quickie Review:   A soldier gets an urgent call from his ex-girlfriend. And a complicated mystery soon unravels surrounding the disappearance of a little girl.

---------------------------------

This is Bollywood's answer to Rambo but with more over-the-top action sequences. It's a good enough action movie if you just ignore the "logic potholes".      🤓

----------------------------------

I decided to see this movie in Pittsburg because it's not showing in Richmond, CA.

I have never been to Pittsburg before. And this is the second MAYA CINEMAS that I have been to. If you recall, I went to a Maya Cinemas in Bakersfield, CA, about 10 years ago.

I had to rely on my Samsung Galaxy J-3 Luna Pro's free GPS app to help me with my travel.

I saw a homeless encampment along the freeway on my way to Pittsburg.    😮

And I took the wrong exit because my GPS said, "Take Exit 26." Even though the exit sign said, Willow Pass Road! I soon found myself on a lonely stretch of country road---Well, at least I now know what is at the opposite end of Concord's Willow Pass Road! Upon closer examination, I realized that my GPS was on "preview mode"! What kind of idiot, with a stupid sense of humor, would even think of putting a "preview mode" program on a GPS device? I wasted time and gas because of it!   😡

I eventually arrived at my intended destination after another wrong turn. Next time, I will navigate doing it "old school" style: With A Map!    👍

-

The theatre is on Century Boulevard because, at one time, it used to be a CENTURY CINEMAS.

And I really don't know why Century sold this theatre to Maya because it is in a very nice shopping center with LOTS of Eateries.  😋 .   But no buffet restaurant, though   ☹️ . None that I noticed, anyway.    😕

I will have to come back here more often even though it is over 23 miles away from where I live.   😊

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE, PG ( 1 hr & 50 min )

-

Today, Sunday, March 25th, 2018, I went to Century 14, here in Vallejo, CA,

-

to see the 12:30 p.m. showing of the movie, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE, about a Christian band's lead singer's ( Bart Millard, portrayed by J. Michael Finley ) rise from an abusive home environment to music fame. It's based on a true story. With Amy Grant's ( portrayed by Nicole DuPort ) help, his break-out song, of the same title, earned a Triple Platinum! What Amy Grant did towards the end of the movie made her earn my deepest respect for her!

The price of admission was $5.75.

The movie was shown in auditorium 3. I sat in the 3rd row, seat 3 ( the seat is numbered 6, though  ).

-

Being that it's a Sunday today, I went to the concessions counter to buy an Honest Tea ( $4.85 ) to sip throughout the movie.
They now have the new recliner seats installed in the left side of the building. They're getting ready to do the same in the right side.

-

And since today's a Sunday, I went straight to church, on Solano Avenue, after seeing this movie. But I wasn't satisfied with the Church's service: I had to wait 15 minutes for my $10.70 3-piece chicken w/ an extra side!
-

I can personally relate to the main character's life in an abusive home.

In case you're wondering, I will never go and see, A WRINKLE IN TIME! That movie's Christian theme was omitted by Hollywood's communist/atheist libertard's interpretation of the classic novel that the movie is based on.

P.S.

It rained while I was at Church's Chicken. And their roof had a leak:

_

On my way home, I had a craving for a rootbeer float or a milkshake. So, I stopped at the KFC/A&W, in the FoodMaxx Shopping Center on the corner of Redwood & Tuolumne Streets, to have a large Strawberry Milkshake ( 4-dollar something ). They had a leak, too. And it was worst than the one at Church's!   Ha, ha, ha.

PAD MAN, PG-13 ( 2 hr & 20 min )

-

Today, Monday, February 12th, 2018, I went to the Century 16 Hilltop, in Richmond, CA, to catch the 11:45 a.m. matinee showing of, PAD MAN, based on a true story. The price of admission was $5.75. I bought a $5.60 Snack Pack ( junior popcorn & drink ) at the concessions counter. And I went to auditorium 10 and sat in the 3rd row, column 8 seat to watch this movie.

Quickie Review:  In India, a man sacrifices everything to make sanitary napkins readily available to the 88% of women ( approximately 440 million ) who have no easy access to such a personal hygiene product.

I liked this movie a lot! It is a "must-see!" I especially liked the "panties experiment."  ( Ha, ha, ha---What a riot ! )  I also liked the scene wherein he pulled out a sanitary napkin from his pocket, on a darkened road, when some female stranger was having an "emergency." And his speech at the UN--in Linglish, at that! was also quite a charmer. Lastly, it is simply admirable how a simple man with an 8ht Grade education was able to drastically cut down the retail cost of sanitary napkins from 55 Rupees ( $0.86 ) to 2 Rupees ( $0.03 ) for a 5-pack, starting a revolutionary cottage industry in the process!

I don't know if it's just a cultural difference. But his wife, Gayatri ( Radhika Apte ), should have stood by his side.

I was hoping that Pad Man ( Akshay Kumar ) would end-up in a relationship with Pari ( Sonam Kapoor ) because of their shared interest--and because Pari is more beautiful than Gayatri.

Interestingly enough, in the Old Testament of The Bible, there is also a similar requirement imposed on ( ceremonially unclean ) menstruating females. ( If you ask me, however, I think that it was just to keep couples from engaging in promiscuous sex! Remember folks, thousands of years ago, people had a very limited set of options for birth control. )

After the movie, I went to Yome Chinese Buffet Restaurant at the Hilltop Mall, to have a late lunch. I was charged $4.00 extra because today is a holiday, Lincoln's Birthday. Had I known, I would just have eaten lunch at the nearby McDonald's! Oh, well ....

After I got back to Vallejo, CA, I went to the local MetroPCS Store to finally upgrade from a ( dual core ) Samsung Galaxy Mega 3 to a ( octa-core ) ZTE Blade Z Max:

-

They're essentially the same size, but the Blade is newer, stronger, better and faster. And I was issued a new 'phone number because I couldn't remember the PIN on my Mega! Well, if I'm gonna start with something new, I might as well have a new number, too! I paid over $180.00 for the cellphone, its initial month's service, a case and a screen protector. And I also ended up spending almost $30.00 for an extra USB cable.

I will buy a 128 GB Micro SD Card for it soon!

PADMAAVAT, NR ( 2 hr & 44 min )

-

I went to see this on Tuesday, January 30th, 2018, at the Century 16 Hilltop in Richmond, CA, for the 11:25 a.m. matinee show.

Quickie Review:  An ambitious, egotistical, ruthless and greedy Muslim king, Sultan Alauddin Khilji ( Ranveer Singh ), hears of the legendary beauty of the Queen of Chittor, Padmavati  ( Deepika Padukone ), and raises an army to capture the queen.

*********************************************

The day after I saw this movie, I talked to the owner of the Taj Grill Indian Buffet Restaurant here in Vallejo, CA, about it. He said that it was based on a true story and that there had been widespread protests in India over the release of this movie. I thought that it was all just fiction but, apparently, there are historical references to the Sultan and his Rajput rival, Maharawal Ratan Singh ( Shahid Kapoor ). But he and I agreed on the screen performance of the movie's bad guy, Sultan Khilji; it will be a good shoe-in for an award.

However, the movie's ending, which shows a mass Jauhar, will not go over well in today's #MeToo movement.

Here are the things that I found wrong in this movie: Why did nobody from the queen's father's kingdom of Singhala come to the aid of Chittor?

Why didn't the Rajput king dress a not-so-beautiful woman and used her as a substitute for the queen when it came time to present the queen to the covetous sultan? This would have accomplished two things:

1.) The sultan would have been so disappointed as to exclaim incredulously, "You call this The Most Beautiful Woman In The World? Why, my queen is way better looking than this!"

To which, the Rajput king would have answered along this line: "Well, beauty is, as they say, in the eye of the beholder."

This deception would have put a stop in the sultan's plan to conquer Chittor, right there and then!

2.) The sultan, then, would have had the Brahmin sage, Raghav Chetan ( Aayam Mehta ), executed for wasting his time and resources before any other lives would have been unnecessarily lost.

I bought a new back-up cellphone, a Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro, a few days beforehand. Because I somehow lost my LG back-up cellphone on Saturday, September 27th, when I had to go home sick from work because I was having diarrhea. Hey, maybe I flushed the LG down the toilet in one of my "episodes"! Ha, ha, ha.

But I think that losing my LG back-up cellphone was a blessing in disguise since my Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro is w-a-y better than the previous 'phone!

-

And when I was loading my Galaxy J3 Luna Pro with apps, I came across a free off-line GPS app! This is great as it works with my 'phone's Location app to give me navigation instructions without the need to use up my 'phone's data.

And this off-line GPS also has a "heads-up" function as well as a "dash-cam" function. Sweet! My only gripe is that its instructions are in kilometers--I found this out soon enough when I tried the GPS. Maybe, I can get someone to switch it to miles, instead.

I don't have a problem mentally converting meters into yards, as they are approximately the same length. It's the kilometers into miles that I have a problem with, especially when the GPS would post the speed limit signs! At which point, I would have to quickly glance at my car's speedometer to do the speed conversion and the speed adjustment.

The off-line GPS's female voice is British. And I really don't have a good ear for such an accent.      :-/

I'll see if there's another off-line GPS app that's geared more for Americans.

I will try out the "heads-up" function tonight. And I will try the "dash-cam" function in a day or two.

Lastly, it has a "Real View Navigation" function that isn't free. It costs $12.49. I might get this someday, though.    :-)

*********************************************

Update: I tried the "heads-up" function. It didn't work properly because the image projected onto my car's windshield was just an upside-down reversed image of what was on my 'phone's screen.    :-(     Somebody needs to fire the programmer who wasn't clear on the "heads-up" concept!    :-/
