CONTAGION, PG-13 ( 1 hr & 45 min )

Quickie Review:  A woman dies soon after she returns to Minnesota after a business trip to Hong Kong.  Then, other people die.  But doctors don't know what caused the deaths.  To make matters worse, a blogger incites  fear among the masses by spreading word about a Big Brother/Big Pharma conspiracy.

This "Doom & Gloom" movie is just so-so.  I didn't enjoy it that much.  There was a couple in the audience with me but I didn't hear a word from either one of them.

Here are the reasons why I didn't like this movie that much:  This movie feels like it was written by somebody who studied Microbiology.  I know because I studied Microbiology 25 years ago and The One major topic of discussion was a scenario in which a viral infection could be spread easily throughout the world in approximately 24 hours because many people travel by air these days.  I bet Microbiology students will be required to watch this movie from this point on.  You'd have to be one big and stupid, desperate idiot to want and have sex with someone who's obviously sick and is coughing all over your face!  I already said it in my blog on RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES ( August, 2011 ):  A host-specific virus will not kill-off all of its host organisms, just the weak ones, because it needs  healthy hosts to enable itself to mutate into a stronger strain with each generation.  ( Therefore, the next time that you get a bad case of the Flu, blame it on a healthy person like me!  L.O.L. )  So, when one of the doctors said that the virus killed-off  all of the host cells from different species, I just laughed!  The doctor was a specialist in microbial infection investigating an outbreak in a "hot zone" and should have known better  than to let her guard down at the "hot zone's" hotel.  The Forsythia which is mentioned in this movie is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for Cold and Flu relief.   And ... you would think that there would be a mad scramble in  China and in Hong Kong for this herbal remedy, but there wasn't!  ( At least, none was shown. )
